Nice seeing XMPP getting talked about more again and people setting up public servers is also great.

Though I fear the reason is the rise of US fascism for a lot of that.

Please be sure to use the last versions of omemo 2 (XEP-0384 version 0.8 and newer) because most of clients implement the 0.3 version which is far more better than no encryption but still

Omemo 0.3 is perfectly fine and on the level of what most other e2ee apps do. There is a non-sense troll article claiming otherwise, but that one has been long debunked (however the author deleted the comments correcting it 🤦).

Omemo 0.8 and later (including a soon available post quantum encryption variant) is an improvement beyond that, which is of course not bad to have, but few clients support it so far.

I made my own jabber hostle through snikket.org. I called it pingvinreiret.no which translates to "penguin hive".
