The fact that people are still stupid enough to buy anything from Ubishit and then act surprised that they lied about certain features is fucking embarrassing.

Right, let's blame the victims here...

I blame anyone keeping this company alive

The victims... Of the company that keeps doing the same thing over and over, and have for some time now, we'll before the current game they're "victims" of was even announced...
If only the leopard hadn't eaten their face.

"The victims... of a man who keeps abusing them over and over, and have for some time now, well before the current black eye they're a 'victim' of was on their face."
Is victim blaming only okay when it's people who buy Ubisoft games because we just hate Ubisoft that much?

Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me eight or more times; shame on me.

Yeah, this is a case of a company being misleading about its offline mode and what that means. Like the article says, it's supposed to be a one-time activation check. Not a requirement to play the game, they were supposed to have learned this lesson with Assassin Creed 2's DRM.
This should open up some trouble for misleading customers.

Yes.
Correct.
Unless you are literally a child, you should have been able to figure this out by now.
What are you a 'victim' of?
... False Marketing?
Sure, yeah, that's bad. But at some point, you have to be able to realize that the lying liars who lie, are, most likely, lying again.
How things should be != How things are.
You live in the latter. If you wanna change that, good! But the thinking alone doesn't make it so.

Refund and move on. Let them die.
Sunshine@piefed.ca · 8 pts · 39d
Steam issues refunds within 2 hours.
Make Ubisoft bleed money until they stop opposing Stop Killing Games.
DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 39d
On top of that, if you can prove false advertising, such as an online requirement despite a claim of offline mode, you can claim a refund even after those two hours.
Sunshine@piefed.ca · 2 pts · 39d
Is that a steam policy?
DebatableRaccoon@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 39d
I couldn't say if it's in their policy, but false advertising is illegal and they've had customers' backs on this before like when Tony Hawk's 1 + 2 pulled similar crap.

But I want to play the pirate game (actually never played it before). I wonder how I can play the pirate game without this annoyance 🤔

In a weird way, I kind of appreciate things like this. I was at least a little bit interested in checking this game out at some point. Not for $60, but maybe once it came down into the sub $20 range.
With this, any interest I had is instantly gone. I get to keep my money and I no longer feel any desire to play this game. Thanks, Ubisoft!
