But to give a serious answer… I have lived in apartment complexes where they didn’t like me locking up my bike against any kind of light pole or railing on the property. I suspect it didn’t look good 🤷 (I mean it was a nice bike.)
I feel like the motivation for whoever puts up this kind of sign is most likely not trying to help you ensure your property is safe. Otherwise, they would put up a bike rack instead of a sign.

That's just good advice.

Well if they had proper bike racks, we wouldn't have to put up with that shit.

...pun intended.

I’m unfamiliar with this issue. Is this a courteous to others thing or just bad security for the bike?
We’re still sorely lacking in places to lock up locally.

It's good security - nobody wants to touch feces

For railings like this, it's usually so disabled people can use the railing for support when walking

Or if the sidewalk is narrow, it could get in the way of strollers and wheelchairs

Bro no problem. I"m from the USA, so this water diarrhea wouldn't secure the bike anyway.
Viceversa@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 44d
What if all the bike is covered in it?
jaybone@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 44d
What if it were like quicksand, but diarrhea.
You could completely submerge the bike. I suspect this would act as a strong deterrent to thieves.
I guess a simple pool of regular diarrhea would do just as well, not sure where I got the quicksand part.

Look buddy, I'm not here to feed into your sick-o internet scat bike sexual fantasies. Well, I am, but not for free.

grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one · 4 pts · 44d
