Fun Fact, nintendo owns sex hotels(Love Hotels). Many companies or thier subsidaries have "adult products". The amount of pearl clutching in this article, do they even realize kids are out there cutting holes in plushies and doing messed up things... its not 1970, kids stopped stealing playboys years ago to understand "The birds and the bees"

Just to be clear: this is not state funded. And I guess it's not a public school either. And it's rural NY, far from C.

Parody & satire are well & truly lost arts.

I'm saving all these headlines and am gonna leave it to my grandchild most likely to start a satire news medium. Maybe in a few decades they can make profits again. And else they have something to leave to their grandchild.

Ah yes, experimenting on poor Native kids with a robot that looks like a fucking sex doll.
The long term goal is absolutely to remove educators from education. Robot is cheaper than a teacher and you control what it teaches.

Sex bots still got those freaky faces. Even with the high end silicone variants. Im concerned with children perception of the "teaching assistance". Like will they see the face and be creeped out and not want to go to school.
Plus the article mentioned something crazy with cameras and mics seems to be the bigger issue.

Eyebrow-raiser doesn't really seem to match a strange sinking sensation in my chest.
bhamlin@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 15d
That's just the Cleveland Steamer. You'll get used to the sensation soon.

I'm in the US, and I think it's a big deal because we shouldn't be letting AI watch and teach or children.

mechoman444@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 15d
Yeah, that's right.
A lot of emerging technologies come from the sex industry. Believe it or not.
It's a very interesting phenomenon.
Duamerthrax@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 15d
The problem isn't that the company also makes sex bots. The problem is an AI powered robot shouldn't be teaching kids at all.
dreksob@feddit.online · 5 pts · 15d
And its probably teaching kids that the trail of tears was named that because of how happy the Native Americans where.
uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 15d
Prediction: The kids are going to be too freaked out by the uncanny valley puppet-woman, and a human adult will have to continuously check the bot's answers for hallucinations.
If it is expected to grade tests and homework, there will be a misgrading scandal.

So, these are in the uncanny valley to us...
If we raise our kids with them, will real humans start to look like an uncanny valley to them?
