@NickEast_IndieWriter

Could almost be understood as "working to my payscale".

Definitely "Effort commensurate with remuneration".

I was once denied a promotion because "your voice is too low, and some of your coworkers find that intimidating."

And you're like: [roaring] "what did you say to me?"

Did you perchance work in a karaoke bar?

They could have just been jealous of your excellent Johnny Cash and Barry White performances πŸ˜‰

The company was struggling financially at that point, after their biggest customer left, and they went under shortly after. My theory is that they were scrambling for any excuse to control expenses.

I was told I had "situational growth". I rise to the occasion when put in those situations, but I need to be the one to seek out those opportunities... because apparently having a job where you get assigned a shit ton of work leaves so much extra time to take on even more work you were not assigned.

So despite having more responsibilities than last year, my rating went down. In the same role/pay band. Needless to say, I've updated my resume.

Reading Mastodon posts on Lemmy is amazingly annoying.

Reading people complaining about it is much worse IMO.

@NickEast_IndieWriter @humor @aiop I think I saw Calculated Mediocrity at Glastonbury one year. Sort of prog/electric baroque if I remember correctly.πŸ˜‰

Reminds me of Ginger Root. They describe their music as "Aggressive elevator music."

Some friends of mine had a band called Gevær (Danish for "rifle") with the explicit aim to be as willfully mediocre and clichéd as possible.

Here's my favorite song of theirs.

Personally I find the lead vocals to be too good for the purpose, but they make up for it in other aspects, including poor recording quality (since they recorded all the songs in one of the band member's living room while drunk) πŸ˜„
