Victoria proposes forcing social media platforms to unmask anonymous accounts accused of vilification: “These reforms will help victims of online hate find out who’s really behind the keyboard.”

Vilification is the act of speaking or writing abusively and negatively about someone or something in an effort to lower others' opinions of them. In a legal and human rights context, it refers to public behavior or hate speech that incites hatred, severe ridicule, or serious contempt towards individuals or groups based on their identity.

Differs from libel/slander which is false and negative speach/writing about someone in that vilification doesn't necessarily have to be proven false, just abusively framed.
