Nico Williams gives his World Cup gold medal to his mom, who crossed the Sahara desert in search for a better life while pregnant with his older brother, Iñaki
Nico loves his Mom, so he refuses to hire an Uber because he doesn't trust a stranger to drive her across the desert.
Nico's Mom cares not for the tacky gold medal and has decided to take it to a guy she knew that buys gold for top dollar, alas he lives across the desert and Nico won't let her hire an Uber.
... what's so difficult to understand about this, and why am I being downvoted?
You're just making a lot of assertions. You're claiming she has a gold guy amd that she's going to sell the medal. You're saying she has to walk across a desert to get to this buyer. You're saying her son is stopping her from getting an uber, and that he doesn't get her a private chauffeur.
Like, you're making up this while scenario and seem to think it's all real?

...the worst part is she has to walk all the way back across the desert to sell the medal.
Nico famously refuses to let his Mom ride with strangers when she is carrying golden trinkets.

Are you trying to make a joke? If so, it's falling a bit more than flat.

It's not a joke, the headline says she crossed the desert in search of a better life, then he gave her a gold medal.
Why would I joke about that?
