I had never heard of Magnagotica, but the pictures on the side were so CAIN coded I had to look it up! Tom Bloom makes a lot of cool stuff huh?

Any recommendations on where to get started? If nothing else, I'd love to read up on the rules and lore of the... characters? Units? Factions maybe?

Same place as CAIN I guess? The rules are dirt cheap on itch.io (and a few weeks ago he was giving them away for free). I have a link in the sidebar.
