Oh no, please don't give breeders any new ideas...

Oh, hell no! I hope Quasi serves to raise awareness only.

By the way, there are only about 30 documented cases of short spine syndrome in dogs worldwide.

He's just like Crash Bandicoot!

At first I thought it was one of those panorama photos gone wrong 😭

I would love to see a video of Quasi!

Here you go: https://youtu.be/G-NoOdYKidw

The video is from when Quasi was much younger. He is in his golden years now.

Is that a dcg?

ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 27d (3 replies)

What’s a dcg?

oce@jlai.lu · 7 pts · 27d (1 reply)

It's like a dog, but the middle is shorter.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 27d

In that case, yes!

Missing part of the "o" 😄

I saw a caople of days ago a picture of a racoon with this same syndrome. I'm captivated by Jimothy. Please give that good boy a mega hug from an Internet stranger!

Jimothy is our homie! If you like raccoons, join !raccoons@lemmy.world and enjoy some Jimothy.

I never noticed how many of the posts were yours. So there's this family of them that hangs out on my back porch arguing and roughhousing, sometimes for hours at a time. But they only hang out when my window is open to put a fan in, like they feel like they're part of the family/home when it's open. They refuse to chill when I try to calm them down, they are 100% fearless and cannot be shooed away with loud noises, and they're like a violent WB cartoon, shoving each other off ledges and whatnot. They're so fucking loud, sometimes until 4am. It like a raccoon party.

That sounds really cool! Unless it’s a nuisance for you, of course.

It's pretty entertaining tbh. I always end up around families of them and I've lived my whole life in big cities so it's extra special.

I've watched generations of this family over 15 yrs now. I remember the first time they popped out of my trash can, scared the shit out of me, and stared at me from the darkness. Cute stuff.

We certainly love our short-spined animals. Not this community or folk, but I wish we loved our own species with the same fervor. Don't mind me.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 27d

I agree.

For what it’s worth, Jimothy has become an unofficial mascot for disabled people during disability pride month. It’s not much, but it helps with visibility a bit.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like seeing these and don’t want this encouraged

ickplant@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 27d

I’m not sure how one can encourage a rare congenital condition. I see it as trying to raise awareness about it, especially during disability pride month.
