Huh. Fucking aside, that is a nice boot. Lots of space.

I'm 6'3" (193cm) tall. I can lay down and use that trunk as a not terribly uncomfortable bed. That's how my first GF and I would go to various theme parks, and stay overnight for free. Just throw one of those foam "egg crate" mattress things in the back with a few blankets, and you're good to go.

Whoa. That's very impressive. A proper little sleeper!

That sounds so fun!

It does seem to me that the rear seats are folded down to make it look bigger

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 39d

It is folded down, but that's always been the beauty of a hatchback. You can fold the seat down to extend the trunk.

Wasn’t Saab’s primary buying market gay engineers at one point?

lime@feddit.nu · 9 pts · 40d (1 reply)

architects, i think it was. so yes.

Loll

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 39d

As far as I'm aware, they did tons of market research and weren't ever able to pin down their "target demographic."

SAAB was a BMW for a lower sticker price.

They were awesome, but weird. Ignition between the seats? Fan belts by the firewall? Why the hell not

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 39d

There were engineering reasons for those decisions. The ignition on the floor was because they found that the starter worked better/best when the ignition was positioned next to the transmission column. I don't remember why the fan belts were there, but it may have had to do with the rotation of the engine block.
