Currently we know the earliest Teslas have had a worryingly high battery failure rate at ~13-14 years of age which is why most EVs still get sold for cheap after 5-6 years, before the battery warranty expires.
We have projected lifespans which shows new EV batteries lasting essentially forever, but how do we know it's true?

So they're not just pocketing the donation money, they're also committing tax fraud by working on it full time (presumably) and paying dividends instead of salary. Source: Their declaration for last year. This wouldn't fly for a local company, not sure why they're letting e-residents get away with it.

Here in Estonia we've had minor cuts like increasing doctors appointment fees for non-recurring visits to specialty doctors and ER from 5€ to 20€ and we've also increased taxation, which is of course widely hated, but we've managed to keep the country going with little increased debt load to bite us in the ass when the next global recession comes (generally you want to increase spending when the recession has already hit to come out of it faster, so it's great to have headroom for taking on debt then).
Interesting, they try that here in the EU too. I find it particularly egregious because until I take delivery of the package, I'm not responsible for it if it's lost or damaged.

And I already buy ridiculously depreciated German luxury cars for funsies and fix them when shit breaks, I think I could handle anything an Italian bike throws at me too, especially since it wouldn't even be my primary vehicle.
But then when I start thinking about the finances, it no longer makes sense. Besides the license and the bike itself, I'd also obviously need gear (ATGATT after all) and I'm hoping to lose some 50 kilos in the next few years so that also means buying expensive pants and a jacket again. Might put it off for another year or 2 at this rate so things align better.
We don't know if they're actually more efficient because ClosedAI and Anthropic won't tell us how (in)efficient their models are, whether they're running quants, etc. Kimi K3 is about 3 terabytes of VRAM unquantized so I wouldn't call the Chinese models super efficient either. The "efficient" models are the distillations and particularly quantized versions of some Chinese models. Nothing stopping ClosedAI and Anthropic from doing the same if they're willing to lose a bit in accuracy.

LED bulbs still exist and are more efficient to use than LED fixtures where you have to change the entire lamp instead of a bulb!

But my personal issue is the cost more than anything. Mercedes wanted over 40k EUR for an battery, EVClinic repaired it for 4800€ so battery didn't need to be replaced, but even for 4800€ I could buy 3-4 used engines for my car and get them installed by a decent mechanic, or even more engines and install them myself, meaning I essentially could run this car without oil changes for several years by just replacing the engines. Now why did Mercedes ask 41k EUR for a battery that's clearly still in warranty since the model isn't even as old as the battery warranty yet? Nobody knows, but in a forum thread someone said that Mercedes told them the battery warranty only covers up to the vehicle's value, whereas the cars themselves cost much less now than the batteries do. This is probably just Mercedes being shady as fuck because they've realized they'd go bankrupt if they had to honor battery warranties on these.
