You can't leverage reddit karma for anything so probably not. It's more like weight values for a neural network, now that reddit is just a data library for chatbots

I am not sure what you mean by social credit. Now with that said, I have never considered any posters karma score on reddit.

I can't think of a time I ever looked up someone's account karma. Maybe there was a time or two I noticed it was discordant with their level of activity.

Karma on a post takes up some of the role nonverbal signals have IRL, and Lemmy separating out up and downvotes is an improvement.

If I see someone with a lot of karma on Reddit, all I think is "wow, they must spend a lot of time on Reddit"

Only in that having a certain threshold is used to determine if an account is a bot or not.
