From now on, my tip is zero until you prove you deserve it. The amount of deliverers who put my food on the ground when my instructions say to put it on the chair is infuriating. I’m sure you wouldn’t

...And by presenting an offer to the driver that pays $2-$3 (with no tip, that's what we see), you're going to end up with your food being delivered by a moron who cannot do basic math. These same morons are the ones who cannot see your chair even though it's right in front of them. They're also the ones who don't bother to carry your food in a cooler/hotbox, the ones who place your order in front of your outward-opening glass/screen door so you can't grab it without knocking everything all over your porch, and the ones who slam their brakes at a stop so your fries spill out of the bag onto the floorboard and then they shovel your fries back into the bag and hope you don't notice the dirt and hair in your meal.

Even at the best pace and with the shortest delivery distances, I can't do more then 3 deliveries/hr. And I cannot risk making only $6/hr, so I only accept offers that get me in the $20-$25/hr range. I do not have the luxury of assuming the customer's generosity.

If the tip isn't up-front, I don't take the order. Most drivers refuse no-tip orders (smart ones, anyway), and while one driver after another refuses your order, it just sits on the restaurant shelf getting cold. I may take your order if it's paired with someone else's, and they've tipped enough to make up for your lack; as long as I get the $/hr I'm looking for, I don't care if one of the orders is a mooch. But I refuse every order that's less than $8 (and you better believe I 2x that amount for a stacked order, no one rides for free), and refuse anything less than $1.50 a mile. And I don't ever go over 10 miles unless they've already tipped very well.

Now, you can go ahead and say "I don't care, I ain't paying in advance", and that's fine, you'll still get your delivery. ...Eventually. But it won't be me dropping it off, and you can enjoy your cold, cigarette-smoked food sprinkled with dog hair and driveway gravel.

...And left in your cat's favorite planter, instead of on your nice clean chair.

Tipping is out of control. Your tip doesn't even go to the driver. The delivery companies lower what they pay based on your tips. But the idea that I'll tip before you do anything, the norm now everywhere but sitting down at a restaurant, is absolutely insane.

DoorDash says 100% of the tip goes to the driver. They take out their own service fees from subs and orders.

Careful sticking up for amoral creatures who crave only money, it'll bite you 100% of the time. 100% of the tip goes to the driver. They will however, adjust the compensation they give the driver ahead of time, for customers that are known to tip. As well as other shady practices that amount to taking tip from the driver.

Interesting. I'd love to read further on that.

However, if you set absolute minimums for what you're willing to accept, you'll still get what you need even when they nickle-and-dime you like that. I mean, they can only rip you off for so much of your $2. 🙄

Ooh, doubling down on defending a beast bent on taking absolutely all that they can from the most needy of workers. 'mmm yes, it's the poors fault for not setting proper boundaries.'

Where did I defend them? All I'm saying is if you're going to deal with a snake, you better know how to handle a snake. I mean, I'm running at a 2% acceptance rate right now and I'm making an average of 25 bucks an hour.

I'm not saying they're not predatory, but if you know how to ignore their bullshit and just take things that are worth it for you, you can come out ahead. But you be you, tough guy
