Well, of fucking course they knew. I knew it, decades ago, and I'm nobody with no degree. Anyone with a functional noggin knew it. It wasn't ever a secret.

When I was a kid in the 90's, I learned about greenhouse gasses by watching an old documentary from the 50's.
It is not even news that they knew about it -- internal studies that the companies paid for in the 80's showed that they would unquestionably be emitting enough to change global climate.
