That partly depends on the site, but to keep it simple, if you're on Android, I highly recommend Léon URL cleaner app.
But I'll use two different forms of a YouTube link as examples of how it can be both simple and confusing..
You see that ?si=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx shit, yeah that's their tracking data...
