Exporters Still Are Not Eating the Trump Tariffs: They Are Taxes on Us

Not even a tax. A double tax.

We pay the tariff when it's levied in higher prices for goods.

Then we pay the tariff in reimbursements from the government to the corporation after the tariffs are struck down.

And Trump. Just. Keeps. Doing. It.

This is a guy playing poker with other people's money with his cards facing the wrong way, and he just keeps doubling down.

Shocking. Almost like tariffs don’t work.

Why should the exporters bear the costs for an American homemade problem?

Only an idiot would have believed that exporters would absorb the tariffs.

I first read that as “explorers” and I thought, “oh shit we still have those? I guess they would be burdened by purchase restrictions anywhere.”
