The new directives for ICE’s Employee Code of Conduct came in the wake of a botched arrest last week in Las Vegas by two ICE officers wearing hooded sweatshirts, with one attempting to pull a hood down over his face as onlookers recorded video. (ICE did not respond to a request for comment.)
The officer attempting to make the arrest “looked like a kidnapper,” said one ICE official who spoke to The Intercept on the condition of anonymity to protect their livelihood.
“Ending the era of ICE agents making arrests in hoodies and unbranded street clothes is a long-overdue admission that unidentifiable immigration enforcement is dangerous, instills fear, and erodes public trust,” Nick Wilson, the senior director of public safety policy at Center for American Progress, told The Intercept. “Real public safety requires holding federal agents to the exact same standards of visibility, training, state and local oversight, and independent investigations of civil rights violations as local law enforcement.”

And a form of identification plastered on every piece of attire / equipment they own.

Cheaper for the government to let them wear their own carhartt and 5.11 clothes.

I didn't read the article, but let me guess. They will have to wear an armband that looks sort of like this?
Edit: spelling

Well, there's a more fitting logo, like sort of two lightnings close together (SS).

Sounds just like the “patriot front” uniform, so most of them should already have it.

Jesus, this is so incredibly classist and racist.
They're swapping jeans and hoodies for polos and khakis. Basically they're changing to rich people plainclothes, and saying that makes them look less like kidnappers.

Now they'll look like pedophiles and child sex traffickers instead

It's the new dress code white sheets and pointy hats that cover your face?
lemmylump@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 10d
The Yankees should sue, that hat is now a fascist symbol.

So, still plainclothes? Yeah, you try to stop me in plainclothes, and I'm running to the nearest police station

Brown shirts are mandatory.

A dress code will save lives, I'm sure.
(And I don't mean a new hemp necktie)
