Good time to drop a reminder that the USA allows and encourages slave labour of prisoners. It has an entire industry of private prisons which contract out their slaves to work in various industries and fields.

This coming from the country that still has slavery codified into their constitution. It just needs to be "as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted". Ie, their prison-industrial complex.

"as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted" by a judge who takes bribes so you send them prisoners. Or in the future, simply disagreeing with the government at mass.
