Finally! My Teracube 2s is a fully functional phone.

New phone has finally been set up. Calls and texts work effortlessly. (after some slight issues transferring over from Verizon😮‍💨) But everything is functional.

This phone is running degoogled e/OS with some slight debloating( used Canta and Shizuku). Current set up so far:

Mobile Provider: Metro PCS (Metro by T-Mobile)

Launcher: Bliss Launcher -> Yagni Launcher (via debloating)

Email/Calander: Gmail - > Tuta Mail and Tuta Calander

Notes: Default app

Reader for PDFs and Books: Episteme

Maps: Google Maps - > Map Quest

Podcast Reader: Anytime Player

Phone/Contacts/Messages: Default/Default/ Right Messages (SMS and MMS support, No RCS)

Camera, Clock, Calculator and OpenKeyChain are Default.

Music: Trebel Music (for now)

Bookworm(NOT BookWyrm; this app is not apart of the Fediverse) a small community based app to talk about everything books.

Fediverse: Blorp (Lemmy)

The app with the umbrella is Travelers Insurance ( my car insurance)

App Stores: Aurora Store and App Lounge (default) along with the MicroG Compactibility if wanting to use that.

Keyboard: FUTO Keyboard

Browser: Startpage

Apps/Systems that I have removed via debloating: Blisslauncher, Blissweather, Mail (Default), Browser, Calander, FindMyDevice, Magic Earth (Maps), Tasks, Parental Control, Music, MJ PDF, Message (Default), Android Easter Egg.

This phone started running so much faster when debloating it. I cant believe it's not already an option to begin with. 😑

Hey good job! Was e/OS easier to install than Lineage?

Ripley_Tripley@lemmus.org · 6 pts · 26d

This phone already came pre-installed with e/OS when I brought it from Muerna. I didnt want to going though the complications of finding the right phone to install the software.

I installed it in an old xiaomi phone and went without a hitch. Just follow the guides in XDA developers and make sure you unlock and backup all the important data in the phone before the switch.

The biggest difference is probably that bootloader locking in LineageOS is a bitch, while /e/OS, CalyxOS, iodéOS, GrapheneOS (and maybe others) make it easy on those select devices they can relock.

/e/OS and GrapheneOS have web installers. Do any others?
There's also https://openandroidinstaller.org/ that I don't know anything about.

Looks pretty good.

By any chance, did you try running banking apps on this? That is one of the few things still holding me back.

Ripley_Tripley@lemmus.org · 2 pts · 26d

I actually did when I was using the phone. It works with MicroG, but limited without google services.

the list looks the same as the last update; what did you change?

Ripley_Tripley@lemmus.org · 3 pts · 25d (4 replies)

I removed a couple of apps by debloating.

Switching my launcher from Bliss Launcher to Yagni Launcher.

Showed which mobile carrier I'm using.

But mostly, its just aesthetic changes.

I removed a couple of apps by debloating.

i try to avoid this by using the browser based versions of everything i use. i suspect that it might help with the way you're using lemmy through an app.

Here comes the laziness and convience, 😅 Its just easier to pop it up over the phone.

Give CoMaps a try, for an offline open source mapping solution. Also try Ironfox, for a open-source browser that isn't based on Chromium (and is more privacy and security-oriented). I install both via F-Droid repositories within Droid-ify. I'm not familiar with App Lounge. Is than also an F-Droid client? Your DeGoogled phone looks great and I appreciate the recommendations for eBook and Podcast apps!

Why thank you, im very new to this degoogling stuff and trying :3.

CoMaps to me just runs weird. I've had it load very slow on my current phone before switching and having difficulty finding addresses I need. Maybe I need to give it another shot since switching over.

App Lounge (from Muerna) gets their apps from F-Droid. Its a app store specific towards e/OS, so i dont think you can find it on FDroid.

I'll see about Ironfox. I use Waterfox on my laptop but haven't tried out any of them on mobile.

Overall, thanks!
