I'm wondering if this is to expose just how much, leaving aside style, Burnham's policies are the same as Starmer's were. Certainly, on core Green issues such as the environment, wealth taxes, Palestine, LBGTQ+ rights and broader civil liberties, Burnham has so far showed continuity with Starmer's morally bankrupt and incoherent policies. Or maybe this is to encourage electoral reform?
It'll be interesting to see how Burnham responds.

Back in May, Burnham was criticised by Labour MPs for planning to appear at an event alongside the Greens, so you would hope that he was more amenable to forming a left-wing alliance.

Labour has long been hostile to electoral pacts in national elections, though they have, on occasion, happened in local elections. If Burnham were willing to break that precedent, it;d put Reform even further on its heels.

Andy Burnham is scared to commit to anything and will likely play into Reform's hands when does, because labour is right-wing.

gross; no thank you. burnham is an even bigger transphobe and warmonger than starmer.
