First time pebble owner, loving my pebble time 2

I've had several android smartwatches over the years, with varying levels of success and enjoyment.

Most recently I've had the pixel series, the pixel watch 1 was good until it got wet and died. I had a fitbit with color screen(forget which one) but it also suffered a watery death.

I have a pixel watch 2 that I used alongside a pine time for m 2 or 3 years, and honestly I really loved that combo. I wore the pixel watch on my days off, and the pine time to work, where it took a lot of abuse. But I loved it's week long battery life.

But the pine time always had little issues, heart rate not working consistently, weather not updating... Almost ever. But then sometimes it would? But then it would break again.

But the biggest problem was connectivity. Both my pixel watch 2, and pine time, started disconnecting randomly during the day. Eventually I stopped trusting that messages would actually show up on my watch. Eventually it was basically disconnected 100% of the time, and I was wearing a stupid little screen for no reason.

I reset the watches, I reset the phone, tried a different phone entirely. Checked all the battery settings etc. No dice. It would SEEM to work, but then randomly disconnect at some point during the day, never to return unless manually set.

But this pebble watch? Not only does it last a solid 5 days for me, but it does it with many of the features similar to pixel watch. And they all just work.

For the first time in forever, my watch stays connected all day, and my weather is updated, and messages come through, it's amazing.

No complaints from me, a very happy customer.

I'm loving mine. I'm curious about your 5 day battery life though....mine lasts way longer than that.

I have a number of things affecting my battery life, namely the dataload watchface which is really active, has a second hand that updates the screen every second, and increased health tracking, and increased backlight timeout, etc etc.

I could stretch it out more, optimize. But I want these features, so 🤷‍♂️

What's your battery life?

Yeah that's fair.

I'm not sure how you got the entire thing to display, maybe your phone screens resolution. Here's what I've got.

20 days! Holy crap. Have I got an issue with mine? That's... That's a big difference.

I'm gonna change my settings to stock and do a test.

Are there any reports of some watches having defective batteries?

Edit: also the screenshot is a Samsung feature. I mostly don't like Samsung... Anything. But it's a nice feature.

I haven't been following too closely with other people's reports. I'd be interested myself if others were getting results similar to yours. .

The thing that jumps out immediately is the watch face usage. Mine is using next to nothing compared to yours. My watch face is Timestyle and it's pretty basic and no second hand to update every second.

So I set everything to match yours, and after a day, my projected battery was way up. And two days, it's looking really good.

I guess the dataload watchface is really really heavy.

I'm gonna turn back on some health tracking and turn up the backlight, and see what that does before I tinker with dataload to see if I can calm it down.

Thanks!

Dang that's some serious improvement! I can't believe that other face was so draining.

Glad you got it figured out!

I know I'd be way happy if I was excited for 5 day battery and turns out I could get 20 lol.

Cheers!

Definitely get a screen protector.

I recently retired my old Pebble Steel, had to replace the leather band at one point, and break it free of the old dead infrastructure but it was great for a long time. Eventually the screen quit redrawing (battery was still good for most of the week), so I'm trying out being watchless.

That is great news, I'm waiting for shipping of my round. It's good to hear a new user sing praises

Really enjoying mine!

It’s kind of cool watching the software develop rapidly too.

I love the gigantic store of creative apps and watch faces.

The only thing that’s really been bothering me is that a lot of apps want to receive live information for weather instead of referencing the location set in the pebble app. I usually leave location services off so this limits which faces I can use.
