When I posted a demented and borderline pressure relieving post about Donald Trump. And it seemed to have sparked a bit of a contentious debate on whether or not Joe Biden was Better than Trump, actually worse than people remember, or simply had done a few yuck ups during his inaugurational presidency.
It really made me wonder if we was a great president or simply just had enough redeeming qualities to be distinguish from Trump who is perhaps the most complicity repugnant loathsome world leader living atm.
Was Joe Biden a Go Joe or a No Joe or even a Dunno Joe (as in, "ehhh he was alrite I guess.")?

He was decent. Better than W or Trump for sure. He repeatedly tried to do something about the college loan debt problem and medical costs. We also didn’t have to wake up every morning wondering what fuckery the president and his cronies had unleashed on us for the day.
Keep in mind that when you elect a president, it’s not just that person you’re electing, but an entire cabinet and regime.

Biden was the best president of my lifetime. I have written this before and it really gets some folks goat. The omudsban bill was a good direction. Fixing infrastructure with a slant toward energy efficiency and conservation. No surprise billing is the best addition to obamacare since it was passed. Pushing fincancial companies and isps to stop runaway fees. Limiting non competes. For a single term this was incredible. Yeah a lot of his stuff got reversed but that sorta shows how effective it could be that they went nuts trying to stop it. When he came in our response to covid got more sensible and stopped having all that nonsense. Despite the flack he gets from the far left he was pretty good with palestine pushing for limits and pushing isreal to easy up while working to get aid in to palestinians. Thing is I am judging him by all actually existing presidents in my life. Not some I want better than I have ever seen thing. So he is a good president by comparison of all presidents since carter to me. Not just in comparison to trump. I would much rather of had kamala win and that administration continue than trump2 much like it blows my mind to think of how much better footing the us would have had in the new millenium if gore had won.

Passing the ira was good, failing to actually get the policies fucking started and waiting years for states to make a stupid app then the program getting cancelled before it did anything was an absolute fucking waste. Democratic hubris and slow walking ruined the main signature legislation.

this is a bit overly dramatic. previous things have kick started faster using "shovel ready" projects which is really about funding things that would have already happened but getting them going sooner. Thing is this type of tactic you give up the specifics of what your trying to get done. In addition it was crafted as a longer term over the course of years rather than one time which was kinda necessary given its scale. At least when leadership is actually trying to run things responsibly.

His legacy will always be Trump 2.0 and that is what he will be judged by. As for his actual presidency, he at least tried to do a somewhat decent job and improve the lives of regular people. But he was very much beholden to the oligarchy so he never did anything that night have rocked the boat. The way he handled his succession was of course an unmitigated disaster.

We’ve had a lot of senile presidents in my lifetime, propped up by the political machine underneath them. The difference is that Biden actually stepped aside, unlike say Reagan or Trump. The real fuckup here was that the party officials didn’t hold a primary to replace him.

Biden only stepped aside when it was far too late so he doesn't get any credit for that. And of course the DNC is to blame for preventing any fair primary process both for Biden's and due Harris' nomination.

100% true and history will remember him as a Hayes or Carter; completely out of his depth and looking in the wrong direction. His charges were to get COVID under control and make sure that Trump was tried for his crimes (obviously including J6 after it happened). In the summer of 2024, no two topics were more important for voters. COVID was much more of a success but it was a bare minimum request. On the Trump front, it's impossible to say he was anything but a complete failure. Merrick Garland was a disaster. Biden's decades of Good Ol' D.C. Politicking made him incapable of addressing the situation and blind to the insurrection that was bubbling right under him. Almost all of his "wins" were erased in one night because of this.
This isn't to touch on his re-election campaign of gaslighting voters on their paychecks and doing the will-he-won't-he run for a second term schtick and undermine any opportunity for a real primary.

No, he was horrible. Possibly could've been the right man at some point, but retrospection shows that he was the worst person for the moment.
