Reminds me of the time my wife asked me "why a computer monitor would cost so much (£500)". This was straight after she had shown me a picture of a handbag she liked that cost £6000.
I love fashion and I think high end clothes are priced way more appropriately than anyone here probably wants to admit, and I have huge respect for the artistry and craft that goes into it. But a handbag is definitely not a much more complex piece of engineering...at best they could be relatively similar for certain bags. The price difference is because a lot of bags need more manual involvement by decently paid workers rather than factory slaves. And because the artists doing the designing also get a solid salary as that is the primary aspect of the product. Whereas monitor designs are comparatively not so demanding to dream up and not as important.
Not just that, I went into a North Face store and their shit was insane. It was like $450 for a bitch basic puffer jacket. I don't mind paying more if it makes sense, I have a few watches over $1,000 and half a dozen Tom Bihn bags that are like $300-$400 each but they're actually amazing quality because they're hand made in America. North Face is Chinese mass produced trash.
Down can be pricey but not that much :( they used to have a reputation for durability, I'm not sure how their stuff is now. Doubt it's worth what they're asking no matter how generously you try to frame it.
Well, an issue could be that it's not a sweater, so if she wanted a sweater, she might be disappointed to find out that she came home with a poncho instead.

At least Sony can't stop her from using the sweater after she's bought it.

Don't go giving them ideas.

thread woven from sugar, like cotton candy. dissolves in water.

Sony, does this physical sweater make you mad?
Inucune@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 9h
They don't have to, women rarely wear the same clothing items more than once. That is why goodwill is full of women's clothing.

You come off as someone that hasn't been around women often. I still wear my prom dress occasionally, I'm 43.

What's with that weird photoshopped eye in the left photo? Lol
Makes him look like a Nintendo character

Probably an AI filter that tries to fix faces and thought he was winking?

Then why wouldn’t it be on the right side where we zoomed in
blarg_dunsen@sh.itjust.works · 32 pts · 1d
The whole meme is AI generated, if you zoom in and look at details like the phone, her face and fingers, his ears, it's all distorted and weird.

And you can’t see the chain on the tag in the first bit

To be fair a handbag is a much more complex piece of engineering than a computer monitor.

Is that a cashmere poncho?
FauxPseudo@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d
Looks like it. I kinda want to knit one now. But more of an Aran cable style.
tanisnikana@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

She can buy it if she likes it.
daggermoon@piefed.world · 2 pts · 1d
Is she can afford and she gets lots of use out of it than I don't see an issue.

Honestly the sweater looks cute, shame if it was expensive :(
Fmstrat@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1d
Since the whole thing is AI, probably cost about 2 gallons of water and an hour of a fridge cooling.

On the upside, if you don't wear the sweater for a couple years, it'll still work like you left it.

This gotta be AI. The fingers look wonky and his right eye is open in one of them. Looking like Melina from Elden Ring
