Synney is gorgeous in spring/summer, not so sure about this season. Don't miss the ferry over to Manly and visit the Corso but that maybe that is at it's best in summer. I love their national parks but they are a bit out of town. Also the Queen Victoria Buildings are just beautiful. It's worth taking an organised tour around The Rocks - so much history and a tour guide really helps. If you or your cousin suffer a brain injury during your visit, my son is a neurosurgeon working locally. Just in case you need him.
God I'm still so fuckinf salty over Neil Gaiman being an absolute perverted fuckstick. But damn his short stories really informed my personality.
One of my favourites is called Changes, about a man who develops a pill that can just cure cancer. The side effect is it changes the person sex overnight. The short story explores how people start to use it recreationally, discrimination that arises from its use, and how society evolves over the inventors life to incorporate this new way of existing. It's so well written, and I think about it often.
There's so many of his short stories I adore. Why'd he have to go and be such a fucking freak?
I still won't throw them out though, they informed too much of my childhood and I'm too sentimental.
Right?! Absolutely fuck him. And her, for knowing and still sending girls to him. It absolutely pisses me off. He was so revered and his work is amazing. I'm down with separating the art from the artist for work you grew up and loved, keeping them, but I sure as shit wouldn't spend any $ on his works now.
site: yeah we rebooted the modem but we're still not online this is your fault me: ok cool, I've raised a ticket, can you please send me a pic of the lights and any flashing sequence site: We can't find the modem. me: ....
It;s on top of the rack / what rack / the eight foot black cabinet you keep all the equipment you use EVERY DAY in / we don't have one of those do you mean the server? / the lights are off / can you check the plug / its unplugged / can you plug it in?/ where? / nvm I'm sending a tech
I just bought a $35 memory foam pillow from KMart. Quite an upgrade from my lumpy-no-matter-what, non memory foam $10 KMart offering - but that did a good enough job for 18 months or so. Fingers crossed for comfy
I'm very glad to have an indoor day planned today. Grocery delivery is being dropped off this morning, so I'll be doing some packing of things for the freezer and making another batch of breakfast muffins.
The top temp here (Ballarat) is only expected to be 10 degrees. The whole week ahead looks pretty miserable - the highest expected temp is 13 on Friday, and tomorrow is only expected to get to 9. Plus rain and possible hail.
It has been surprisingly sunny considering the forecast. The morning dog walk was surprisingly pleasant, it was 4 degrees and felt like -2, but there was sun which makes it much more acceptable.
I was a bit disappointed that the ham I ordered was not available and they refunded me instead of giving me a different type of ham. But then the ham was in the order anyway, so now I'm very happy because I got free ham. It's a total rollercoaster of emotions this morning!
Nice, I wanted to get a larger Airscape cannister for my coffee but forgot to add one when I just got a bunch of filters from Alternative Brewing. This coffee place I like is doing a deal where you can get one shipped with the beans in it. Everything's coming together
Hopefully your weather is a bit better than mine then, it's freezing cold and raining this afternoon. I took out the compost bucket earlier and that's as close to gardening as I'm coming today.
Breakfast muffin assembly went well. I bought some 'muffin top' tins that are perfect for cooking eggs in the oven, and I can fit a dozen eggs and a tray of bacon in the oven at once. Assembly and wrapping is still a bit tedious, but I've now got a dozen breakfast muffins in the freezer with a lot less mess and effort than cooking in the pan took.
Now I just need to clean everything up, then vacuum pack all the meat I bought for the freezer.
Had a long meeting get pushed back so it felt extra long. Great use of everyone's time that you talk about what you're going to do, just for everyone to get up and leave for the day

Flights are booked to visit cousin.
Pretty excited. Never been to Sydney before.
Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 42d
Sydney disagrees with me. Or the other way round. I'm Blue mountains origin if heading that way, but a tourist site would be more recently updated.

Having a chill the fuck out at home day.

Yep! Amanda Palmer is NOT a girl's girl. She's a trafficker like Maxwell, as far as I care. Never liked her music anyway 😂

maybe the ability to question our social norms in radical ways comes from the same place where his empathy should be
tho he has a close relationship with his partner and they do evil stuff together, maybe some of the ideas are hers
but now that I think of his books there is no kindness or tenderness in them
StudChud@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 42d
I wouldn't be surprised, I haven't really ever liked her tbh. She comes across as a little sadist imo

yup, no kindness, no tenderness

get stuck into Pratchett. His worst sin was taking a bit to realise his position of privilege as a white male.

My mind is all stuck when it comes to the garden.
It needs unKAOSing.
learning to see chaos, to see it's cause, and learning to wrest order and calm from orchestrated dysfunction has been difficult but worthwhile.

Mad flapping antsy nonsense after Body Corp AGM. Probably no huge weird bills, aside from water but that is another type of carp.
