One of my favorite movies as a child. I refuse to watch it as an adult, just in case it's actually awful.

And the berserkers with the helmets. There was a lot of messed up stuff in there, even if it wasn't polished, it was memorable.

Plus... John Amos from Good Times!

Well, I watched Hawk the Slayer in #Monsterdon, then Beastmaster after in #MonsterMiru... and Beastmaster was so much better!

A great film? No. But an entertaining film? Yes.

Part of the joy of watch parties like #Monsterdon / #MonsterMiru is that an awful film can still be enjoyable as everyone riffs on it. But I can understand not wanting to spoil a treasured memory.

I tried re-watching the tv show some years ago and it didn't hold up too well.

The TV show didn't hold up well on release IIRC.

it's pretty cringe, but not as bad as some 80s kid faves, e.g. krull

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 28d (1 reply)

Krull gave us Liam Neeson though.

i credit excalibur for giving us liam

Krull is SO CLOSE to being an awesome movie, it's worthwhile to watch it and see what went wrong.

Beside that solid 80s barbarian film.
