I particularly hate these trucks because they're perfectly "I need a family vehicle but I'm too insecure to drive a van".

these pavement princesses with pristine cargo beds and squeaky clean wheel wells makes me so mad.

someone starved elsewhere so the empire could acquire the obscene amount of gas necessary to run these pieces of shit because of the vanity of some usian.

A van's moreso for businsss, a hatchback is better for family imo. Or sedan if you don't have a lot of luggage needs.

I think they mean a 7-seater minivan

birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 22d (1 reply)

Isn't that a hatchback? Hatchbacks often can have the luggage space fold out to make space for extra seats.

ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 22d

Not necessarily, a hatchback is just any car where the rear compartment isn't a separate trunk, so there are even tiny 3-door hatchbacks. A minivan (or MPV) has a specific body style to accommodate more passengers in the back

So I own a big stupid truck TM and while it's only used a few thousand miles a year to pull horses, occasionally I need to run to the store with it. What I don't do is try to pull into a narrow ass tiny spot near the door, I park as far to the back as I can so I'm inconveniencing the least amount of people and at a much smaller risk of dinging something.

Do I think my truck is ridiculous? Yes. But I can't pull 5 tons of trailer and horses with my bike or compact. And I try to limit its non-agricultural use as much as possible.

Having said that, man that guy is a jackass.

Can't tow 5 tons with a bike? You just need to try harder.

Doctorzoidy@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 22d

Ok sure, but maybe I should have said those few thousand miles were in 1x 2500 mile round trip and a few 150-200 mile trips.

I do believe my body would expire.

Do you put parking signs for car sizes in the USA?

its_kim_love@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 14 pts · 22d

Older lots made for more reasonably sized vehicles will sometimes put up signs for compact cars instead of resizing their parking lots into 1/4 of the spaces.

Nikki@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 11 pts · 22d

ive seen a lot of "compact car" spaces in city areas, which are just normal parking spaces to the rest of the world but yk big truck murcuh yeah!

Ithral@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 0 pts · 22d
