I read about this before when there was talk about the design last year, but I wasn't aware it was open source for some reason. That may have been before I become a huge advocate for open source stuff though. I'm new.
It's an interesting idea having it open like that, like a real book. I like it and hope it comes out and we can get some real world reviews of it. If I had the cash, I'd be looking hard at this.
My initial concern was that it doesn't look easy to change batteries or change out the screen for reparis--I'm all about perma-tech now. But as I'm reading about it, it does say, "Fully open-source, Diptyx is easy to repair and customize, letting you read whenever and wherever you want, forever."

Ill let you know once i have it in my hand. But it looks like its just a few screws and everything is replaceable.
I may make a metal version but im not certain until i see it in my hands. Supposed to get it sometime late august/sept.
