I've never personally seen a gaggle of 18-40-year-old star trek fans explaining unironically how the Borg did nothing wrong.

well now i wanna go do that with my middle aged buddies at the mall.

Empire did nothing wrong is such a fascinating joke. Because it was and mostly today still IS a joke. An obvious one. They are the baddies. But then we entered a political moment where it people started sliding into the sub that were doing it in earnest.

See also prequelmemes which started off as a subreddit dedicated to making fun of and dunking on the prequels and overtime became a place where people would honestly defend.

Isn't it sort of beta cannon that the Borg are the products and the voyager space probe? In some convoluted not very well thought out way, I think it got sent back in time or something?

Yeah, ok...but, what color Star Trek shirt?

As true as it is, it's not a monolith. ND Republican candidate Corey Johnson is supposedly a huge star trek nerd and I've been planning his assassination.

This is a joke btw

Steve@communick.news · 20 pts · 11d

Being a Star Trek nerd is nothing to joke about.
How are the plans coming along?

Kirk@startrek.website · 10 pts · 11d (5 replies)

No, but statistically speaking it goes bear > star trek fan > star wars fan > Lemmy user

MousePotatoDoesStuff@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 11d (2 replies)

Okay but what if the bear is a Lemmy user?

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 11d

i have a question for the bear

n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 11d

so they are on hexbear?

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 11d (1 reply)

Where are the beats? Where is the Battlestar Galactica?

Isn't it running trope that most right wingers have virtually no media literacy and do not understand that their favorite show is actually entirely opposed to their political beliefs

nocturne@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 11d (2 replies)

Pre-Discovery I might agree, but now the majority of trek fans are just as toxic.

Kirk@startrek.website · 6 pts · 11d

Sir this is a website

inverted_deflector@startrek.website · 2 pts · 10d

I wouldnt say a majority but yeah there are a lot of trek fans who are were also pulling the "why you gota make everything political!" card . Nothing really tops the poop whirlpool that was the last jedi fallout.

Stormygeddon@startrek.website · 1 pts · 11d

I think the only ones who wouldn't inherently trust a Star Trek fan over a Star Wars fan are the Child Exploitation Section of the Toronto Sex Crimes Unit circa 2005.
