[CW: Assumes Viewer is Transfem] Boymoder or not, you are all cute and valid

And I love you all 🩷
In a completely platonic, non-sapphic way because I'm into men. Sorry girls 😭

Sorry, can't find the source...

I originally found this meme as an AntiMeme version on Reddit and thought the original was hilarious.

Here's a link:

Kind of off topic but I've been wondering why we feel the need to do the 'cw assumes the viewer is trans fem' thing lately? I've seen it a few times over the past few months and don't really like it

it comes from trans subreddits like r/traa and r/egg_irl, where posts of the "the person reading this is a good girl UwU" variety had CWs because they could cause dysphoria to non-transfems (there was an equivalent "post assumes reader is transmasc" too)

here? tbh, most of the posts with that CW don’t even assume anything about the gender of the reader, it’s just posts about transfems. and i agree with you i don’t super like that "this post is about transfeminine people" is seen as warranting a CW.

I was reading the community rules, got paranoid and started getting very liberal with the content warnings, just in case.
As to why they exist, it's generally bad to assume someone's gender identity. That's what I believe, at least.

cadmiumsandbox@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 10 pts · 30d

its just a warning that post assumes someone's gender identity

the trans (otherwise non-gendered) spaces i've tended to occupy have been trans fem dominated... which is cool but eventually can feel kind of exclusionary to like... share a space? because i'm trans masc and not necessarily looking to get the good girls posts or the girl euphoria posts etc

so it's not really like a... oh being a trans fem is triggering... it's just an acknowledgement that not everyone in the space is. but i get feeling some friction about it. maybe it helps to imagine the equivalent trans masc post? "girlmoder or not, you're all handsome and valid"... and you can decide for yourself if you feel like the "cw: assumes viewer is trans masc" is warranted

but that's what i understand the origin of the rule to be, and for what it's worth, it does make it a lot more pleasant to be around for me

Imagining the opposite scenario, yeah, it's not strictly needed but it is nice.

It preps me that the thing i'm about to read isn't for me and saves me that little moment of confusion/dysphoria.

in retrospect, requiring it specifically be behind a CW feels a little harsh. it could just be a tag like (transfem) or w/e

imperfect solution i guess
