People who are uninformed: When purchasing a watermelon, you want to pat it like a drum. (Don't slap it like you're Will smith and it's Chris Rock. That might not end well; the melon might explode) When you pat it, you want it to sound hollow. This will help you pick better tasting watermelons. You're welcome.

Thank you! I'm not the only weirdo slapping watermelons in the store!

Everyone's always like "You want a watermelon that's got a very light..."

No... There should be a slight resonance in your fingers, like you're patting a very overfilled water balloon. If you're not sure, lay your fingers flat and drum them on it. Hasn't failed me ever.

I used to tap them until I learned that watermelons that were ripe when picked are yellow on their underside. Ones that were picked prematurely are green all over.

I was working at a mango farm and learned how ripe mangos look like and tastes like and I learned have never found a single ripe mango in a store.

What did Chris Rock ever do to you? Did he also have your wife's name in his mouth?

Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 11d

My wife! Nobody mentions my wife!

Who, Chris Rock?

Yeah, it serves him right for making fun of someone's medical condition.
