Sure, Tolkien's writing may have the odd issue. On the other hand, GRRM wrote such a clusterfuck of a boring Middle Eastern savior fantasy detour that he killed his entire series, and has been avoiding it religiously for decades. I would be pretty embarrassed to open my great big yap, if I were him.

Iāve heard Patrick Rothfuss speak at events in person twice since he released the second book of the Kingkiller trilogy in 2011. Both times an audience member asked him how to deal with writerās block, and he responded āYou donāt get to have Plumberās Block. If your job is to write, you write.ā The third book is still not written enough for him to release a chapter of it like he promised as part of his kickstarter stretch goal five years back.
I guess what Iām saying is admitting to writerās block and not finishing a book donāt always go hand in hand.
