29,001

They forgot to count me.

We need to treat him as ICE treats people in the US. Maybe blackbag him and ship him off to a dank South America prison?

But in Canada we treat ICE like royalty.

Mostly just the "Capades".

Never heard of the petition but that dude is a Trumperin’ asshole. Don’t let my elbow hit you on the way out, Hoekstra (get fucked).

Is it possible to expel him into the sun

Steve@startrek.website · 3 pts · 6d

Its possible to try, buddy!

Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 5d

That isn't a very Canadian thing to do. Drop him off naked in the Arctic. That's a Canadian thing to do.

I'm not even sure what his function would be while we are being attacked in a trade war by his boss. Canada's too classy to say "Get the hell out", but we're getting closer.

I kind of think this thing is just a social media influencer play. We literally had a petition to parliament about Hoekstra that closed just a couple of weeks before this one launched, and then the person who launched this one did it with a website for the petition directing media inquiries to her and even posting about selling stickers for it. Like, democratic engagement is cool and all, but we just had a petition about this that already had something like 25k signatures and anything over 500 already requires a government response, which the government has something like 45 days to provide, so we were still inside the window where the government hadn't even responded to the last one yet. It just comes across as frivolous from an actual policy point of view (both because of the earlier petition and because doing this would accomplish nothing important) and kind of cynical as just an attention ploy for someone positioning themselves to benefit off of channeling public sentiment.

Edit: And now you can add a gofundme onto how that attention is being channeled. Can't say I'm shocked.
