Without measurement and without liquefy the subject is very misshapen (watch the timelapse for an example). I have this crooked bias I'm not sure how to solve for. If you solved this for yourself, how did you do it? I'm struggling. And it's really digging into my time budget for high quality renders in ~10 minutes.

One thing I learned from an art teacher a long time ago was to step back from your work on occasion and look at it from a distance. When we spend a lot of time close to the screen/paper/etc, we can sometimes lose our sense of scale and alignment. I use this method still to make sure that I'm on the right track with my pieces. If corrections need to be made, it helps catch them early.
It also helps with recognizing that minor mistakes are maybe not so bad. An errant brush stroke noticable at 30 cm away is usually not very noticeable at a distance.

It's a good process, and when I'm taking 2+ hours on a piece I very much do it. I normally get a piece about half done and put it away until tomorrow. Then I see a bunch of stuff I didn't see before.
I just don't know how to do that when my time budget is ~10 minutes. I'm looking for the hack or whatever people have done to solve the problem in much less time.
My traditional workflow is measure measure measure draw. It gets super accurate results and takes hours to get done. Not going to work for this art goal of drawing people on a subway and giving it them for example.

Use a mirror to look at your work, or if it is digital then flip it in the app. It let's you see it how others might, since we have dominant eye and hand biases that can play into art.

Flipping is what I've been doing digitally. The mirror trick may solve my issues when I go to physical media! That's genius!
