Sounds like mutiny was brewing.

NatakuNox@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 2d (20 replies)

My friend is in the navy. He said that was brewing because less than 1/3 of the sailors were in physical shape to work. Troops were only getting 600 calories of food and a half gallon of oil tainted water a day. One of his bunk mates lost 40lbs and became too sick to move. The toilets are back flowing so the ship smells like a porty potty when it's 100+ degrees. Mold is growing everywhere because there's no water to wash the filth away.

That's all sop. The deployment length at station is the issue it's just more apparent because they've been out longer running higher op tempo.

NatakuNox@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 2d (18 replies)

The calories 100% isn't. Those ships have always had terrible ventilation and plumbing that's the main reason they have to return to Port so often. The biggest con ever pulled was the military industrial complex. Most of our equipment is unaccounted for and the stuff we do have hardly works. Trillions over decades and the toilets can't flush.

The meal rationing is because of op tempo and time on station, they're not under equipped that's literally how they're designed to work. They aren't people they are government equipment and they are treated as such. It's not good but it's just how things work in wartime.

A 600 calorie a day diet is not SOP. The USA had entire ships dedicated to creating ice cream in World War II as a way to keep morale and calories up. A lot of DoD research has gone into ensuring that troops get the calories they need to stay at peak combat effectiveness.

If sailors are on 600 calorie a day diets, there has been a near catastrophic breakdown in the supply chain to the aircraft carrier.

Raiderkev@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

Yeah, but those calories might put you at over 5% body fat. Pete likes em slim.

Madison420@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1d

You're mistaking a nation that had leadership and a functional logistics chain with the nation we have today. This is how things are now they aren't going to improve, this isn't an deviation this is simply what you get with a moron ordering a drunk to start wars and commit war crimes.

As an aside the logistics breakdown is systemic just simply more apparent on this particular deployed aircraft carrier.

NatakuNox@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1d (5 replies)

Where are you getting your information? I'm sorry but no. The reason this is happening is because the US is to afraid to move the ships to large ports in the region. Most of them have been bombed to shit anyways. These ships have 5000 sailors. Their families are spilling the beans too! And here you are, "No this is sop during war time..." Just no. So wrong I'm wondering if your name is Pette.

Madison420@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 1d (4 replies)

It's absolutely sop during wartime now bud. You're ignoring the fact this is not going to get better, it's going to get worse and we can say that because hey lookie there things are worse today then yesterday.

I'm aware of the logistics issues, I'm aware the US created them and I'm well aware they're not competent enough to fix the problems hence shortages being the norm as they have been to a less extent for decades and moreso now they gutted a lot of the competent people in logistics for political reasons.

You're still stuck on "we're better than this" we aren't, stop expecting 1990 when it's 2026.

NatakuNox@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1d

So followed up with my friend before going to bed. You're full of shit. Bud. Lol. Yes right now this administration is unable to supply the ships due to incompetence. My friend's exact word from all combat deployments (Sword/Shield/Freedom) "The food wasn't always hot, rearly good, but always enough!"he also mentioned his old heads can't remember a time it was this bad.

Please stop lying on the internet.

last I checked we arent actually at war. Its a special military operation.

Madison420@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 1d (6 replies)

No, we're in wartime we're not in a declared war because the admin chose terrorism instead. I know it's a weird concept but they aren't the same thing. One means the executive has granted broad engagement authority. A declared war just means Congress agrees and limited war authority is lifted to gain basically unlimited war authority.

A special military operation just means we're doing war stuff but don't really want to have to explain anything about it to people that could do anything about it.

queermunist@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 1d

Doing war stuff is war. War is when you do war stuff.

The idea that we can separate these two is gibberish.

kreskin@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Man, they had news stories about them lacking proper food months ago and they still havent fixed it. Republicans are horrible to the military but the military still votes republican at a rate of about 61% anyway. Who can figure it out.

EmmiLime@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 1d (1 reply)
