Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci (c. 1503-1506)

The Mona Lisa is a half-length portrait painting by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Considered an archetypal masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, it has been described as "the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, [and] the most parodied work of art in the world." The painting's novel qualities include the subject's enigmatic expression, the monumentality of the composition, the subtle modelling of forms, and the atmospheric illusionism.

It's nice to see a pic from that time, but I always found it kinda boring.

Love the description. The painting is actually famous cause it was stolen in 1911. It's... a fine piece of DaVinci's but it was the theft that made it the icon it is today.

Also, the theft was based as fuck. Stolen since the art should be in Italy. I don't disagree that countries should get first dibs on their historic works of art, over whatever country stole or bought it. (Seriously, the Elgin Marbles and like 90% of the British national museum should be returned to the countries they were stolen from)
