The lemmy devs have arguably much more problematic opinions, but they were also wise enough to keep their opinions in their instance, and out of the code itself.
He’s radically anti-left, with a block list of leftist users and instances that is only dwarfed by Tesseract.
Codes in censorship features and tries to sneak them by people before getting called out and making them optional for other instances while acting like he’s such a great person for doing so.
And really random stuff such as coding memes and gifs to be hard to discover and sort lower, putting limits on how often people can vote, making the software harder for the people who contribute the most content to try and force them to be less active.

Oh fuck, I barely remember voat, that must’ve been around the same time as the Ellen Pao debacle

Voat was a trainwreck from day one.
Comparing Lemmy to Voat is slanderous.

I used Voat for about 20 minutes before realizing it was just a Nazi platform and left

Comparing PieFed to Voat is however accurate. Both are anti-left platforms.

Only Anarchism is left enough, eh?

What's up with PieFed?
AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 19d
The dev has opinions, and isn't afraid to use his software to censor differing ones.
compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 19d
As opposed to the Lemmy devs, who are opinion-free lol

I thought it was because of the fat hate subreddit

I didn't hate Voat at first. Then it went weird.
Zorque@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 20d
Considering it was founded by people who were like "reddit doesn't let us perv on enough underage people" I don't know what you expected.
