People do hook up at these (in couples or more) but only with full consent. And you can choose to use private rooms or be in the public space where others can watch respectfully.
To me it makes me feel really free. If you're interested just look for this kind of party around you. You might find them on fetlife for example.

(Dimmu Borgir last week, Mastodon/Deafheaven/Alcest and Igorr in September, Periphery/Persofone in October.) Glad the city finally gave them a liquor license; I used to go to goth nights at gay bars in Lansing, MI, and they were the nicest places.
