If your mindset is that your teeth or in fact your entire body only has to last you a couple more years before you inevitably jump of a bridge, you don't have to really take care of it. Trust me if you're not trying to die of old age, you find out that your body is incredibly resilient to neglect. So I wont be doing any of that. Cheers.
Don't do it for that reason: do it for how it makes you feel NOW, in that very moment, when it's all fresh and clean and you can go to bed without tasting all nasty. Besides, don't you want people to enjoy staring at your beautiful teefs on your corpse? /s on the latter but the former is genuine: do it for YOURSELF! But ofc you do you boo.
On the bright side, on my regular dentist checkups I'm always being told that I have pretty much perfect tooth health. Makes you wonder how much brushing really helps and how much is just genetics.
Spend as little time in front of a screen as possible
And in general, being kind to myself. I know I’m my biggest critic, no-one knows my flaws as well as I do.
Also, I don’t HAVE to meditate, work out, or not drink alcohol all the time. I’m gonna be ok if I skip one of my three weekly workouts because I’m tired. I’m gonna be ok if I have a few beers every other month with friends.
I doubt that they're even capable of answering that question during HIIT.
That stuff is pure exercise in willpower and endurance.
I've done Norwegian 4x4 and I'm not answering or thinking anything during that.
I find that it shuts off ALL my suicidal tendencies in the middle of it. I am guessing it does the same for most other people. Not sure how it does it or the science behind it...but it does do it 🤷🏿♂️
I curated my life to suit my preferences. I'm working part time instead of full time and I'm pretty frugal. No drugs or alcohol. Lots of video games with friends, 3 d&d campaigns, working out with my significant other, reading, growing some peppers in the yard, designing my own TTRPG, drinking lots of (decaf) coffee and tea.
The biggest change was the realization that I can't make others happy if I'm not happy. I'm a people pleaser at heart, but constantly putting my SO's preferences ahead of mine made me depressed. We've both made concessions but we've arrived at a place we can both be happy.
I work for the state government in a fairly small town. My wife works full time and we don't have any dependents. We got a great deal on the house because we didn't go through a real estate agent - a coworker was looking to sell and we jumped on that.
What helps me feel at peace is making plans for myself and stick the the plan.
This can be hobby, sports plan, or house chores. It's a double edged sword, because if I fail to fulfill my plans by procrastinating, I will feel very upset. So, I regularly include in my plan to do nothing.
When I pick up my spouse from work in the mornings, I go a little early and relax in the parking lot with a book, reading through it, having my MP3 player for classical music. I've read through six novels this year, though small ones (only between 300 to 400 pages).
I play three D&D campaigns, two as a DM one as a player, which help be self-care for me. Same with playing games on my handheld emulator, and tending to my V-Pets.
And my big one is my various plants I tend to. I have the flowers and herbs in the kitchen (zinnias, marigolds, gardenias, basil, and chives), while in my office I have pintos, peppers, onions, lettuce, celery, and a few houseplants growing. Outside I have my potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and squash as it is summer, when it turns to winter I'll change to garlic under hay in the beds and large pots, while the cold-frame beds I have will grow lettuce and carrots.

Self-Care? In this economy? Best I can do is brushing my teeth once every few days. /s
(But not really "/s")

I got ya buddy! Add a daily task in your phone and use post it notes on your bed.
Not brushing your teeth in this economy is the worst you can do (been there done that!) and depression is a huge bitch.
So do it for your futureself. Go brush your teeth. NOW! And thell your futureself that they are worth every moment of self care.
Stay strong. U are not alone...
Your depressed teeth brushing reminder gang!

The thing that's helped most is being kind to myself in my head.

Working out, bicycling, playing vidya games, on the weekend I'll hit the bong, eat wayyyy too much, and watch something fun.

I hide away when I can. Lie in bed all day, watch a good show, and go get a pizza when I'm hungry.
