Accused of plagiarism, not proven, then constant re-accusations and (re-)acquittals, eventually fled from post and commited suicide.

Something bothered me about this post.
Unless I'm missing something, the term "Double standard" doesn't apply here.
This is "double/triple/infinite jeopardy" instead.
Jason Arday was publically accused of plagarism by a neo nazi.
The british press jumped at the chance to witch hunt lynch mob a black man, and spent weeks publishing racist oped bullshit and slander about him and the 'dei hiring' that got him his position.
Right wing media witch hunt against the guy to nitpick every detail of his life and Cambridge university constantly going along with it. Meanwhile other non-black people actually did plagiarism and just got away with it. The man eventually died (suicide?) after the extreme media harassment.
It's likely he did embellish (see lie) about some parts of his past but nothing deserving anything near the extreme smear campaign he got
If you read about what he was saying, the guy just sounds like a pathological liar tbh. He claimed he sold the rights to his memoire for 1.4 million. To give context, that's more than Virginia giuffre and Boris Johnson sold theirs.
Killed himself because he got caught, not because he didn't do it imo. The severity of the backlash was probably higher because he was black though.
I see talks of this but when was the probe? The Cambridge investigation started on the 5th of August, he resigned the day after. I don't think the investigation is finished.
Cambridge initially came to Arday’s defence, describing the claims as part of a “vile smear campaign to undermine his credibility”. It said it had passed complaints on to Liverpool John Moores University, where Arday had completed his PhD. LJMU cleared him of plagiarism, but academics said legitimate concerns remained.
I guess I'll believe it when Cambridge finishes their investigation over most of his work I'm guessing and not just his thesis.
Sorry if I don't give the benefit of the doubt to the guy that said he ran 600 miles in 6 days. It's easy to see he wasn't honest, kind of silly to assume he didn't plagiarize.
The guy was clearly a liar, I'll keep my pity for people that deserve it, at least while waiting to know if he did plagiarize half his work or not.

He was cleared of his initial probe of plagiarism though so he certainly wasn't lying about everything. Small details to focus on sure whatever.
