The lightening storm over London back in June was similar, it went on for like 8 hours with thousands of huge, intense, atmosphere shaking bolts of lightening. It was setting the freaking car alarms off down my street every time a bolt touched down near by. Barely any rain that night though, which was interesting but it had bucketed down just before hand.
The only colour combinations I find ugly on most people, are when muted/dusty shades are paired with vibrant ones.
Light blue jeans with dark (un-scuffed) black footwear is a good example of this, and the only people who can make this combination look flattering have very cool and very bright complexions.
Speaking of this, get someone you trust and who can see colour well, to tell you whether you have a warm, neutral, or cool undertone to your complexion because wearing the wrong colours will clash with your undertone and this will make you look disheveled or unwell, depending on how badly you're clashing.
So for white guys (which I'm assuming most of you are) your undertome is whether your skin looks more pink, more yellow, or if it's neutral/neither.
If you're more pink you're cool toned, so stay away from warm colours.
More yellow and you should stay away from cool colours.
Neutral/neither most often comes with a more muted complexion but you will probably lean slightly warm or cool too, so mostly bright/vivid colours should be avoided and then which ever way you lean, avoid it's opposite.
For other ethnicities, deeper complexions are not automatically 'warm' and your respective undertones will usually be different from pink/yellow, but the warm/cool/neutral is still how it works.

If anybody is does not have someone to ask about their undertone, if you share a picture (taken in natural lighting!) of your lower face and neck down to the collarbone, one side is fine, I should be able to tell you.
Obviously though if you have a beard or skin condition like intense rosacia or heavy port wine markings, I won't be able to see through that.
