Another week in the books. Let's chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).

I checked out TS-Reincarnated Beauty Netora Reiko Wants to Be NTR'd per @Essence_of_Meh@lemmy.world's recommendation.
Thank you so much. I haven't read trash this spicy in a while since A Complicated Sibling Relationship 4-Koma.
This is why I love manga. I just don't see unhinged plots like these anywhere else.
Give me moar!

I'm glad someone appreciates true art. While I don't actively search for stuff like this I'll be sure to share more if I stumble upon anything equally crazy.

I have another manhwa I want to talk about today, even if doing so is pretty freaking difficult. Cassmire: The Loyal Sword is a story about two sister: Cassmire (our MC, completely devoted to her little sis) and Aria (your typical fantasy series protagonist). They are orphans and, as a result, Cass has been providing for both of them and taking care of (sick) Aria since they were children, eventually becoming a mercenary (at the age of 7 or so).
On one hand this title is great. Cass looks and behaves like a child mercenary who had to fend for herself:
Writing is filled with events and characters that are more complicated than meets the eye (in a good way) and provides interesting clashes of personal philosophies. There are a lot of well thought and logically sound elements with causes and effects rippling to everything that happens here. It's extremely engaging when things really get going.
Oh, there are also a lot of great reaction faces.
On the other hand, it's filled with generic romance manhwa tropes which make me want to tear my hair out. I can't describe how infuriating it is to go from a deep and introspective sequence about a toxic relationship between siblings who grew up with no one to depend on, to a bunch of men-children who act like jealous and possessive boyfriends despite Cass seeing them as nothing more than friends and comrades. Well, that and Cass being super powerful because of course she is.
There's so much great stuff here I ended up binging it over a few evenings. There's so much trash I ended up skimming and at times straight up skipping multiple chapters in a row just to avoid the feeling of wanting to drop the whole thing then and there.
I'm fully caught up at the moment so I have some time to stew about how I feel about this series and if the things are going to go the way I expect them to, I will most likely drop it for real. As much as I like most of it, the bad parts are unfortunately filled with some of the things I hate the most about manhwa, to the point that engaging with the story in a neutral (let alone positive) way becomes more and more difficult.
