You can't fire reality.

Megalomaniacs like Putin genuinely think they can. Same reason why Trump is destroying global warming research and tried to dictate the path of a hurricane with a sharpie.

I cannot believe these fucking dorks are speed-running a second Soviet collapse. It hasn’t even been 40 years yet.

rammer@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 13d

And all the while Krasnov in the White House is speed running a similar collapsr in the US. While Xi is desparately trying to hold broken China together. And the whole world is slowly becoming aware how deep in shit we are due to climate change and several other catastrophies all hitting at once. We are the sea people.

Not with West, with Ukraine.

EatingOnions@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 13d (5 replies)

He meant economic attrition, that west will be able fund Ukraine longer than russia can keep economy afloat

someguy3@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 13d (4 replies)

Eh even the funding is a pittance. They are deluded that they are going up against the West one way or another and they're not.

avidamoeba@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 13d (3 replies)

a pittance

I'm sorry what. The West has given hundreds of billions. Not to mention that Europe has paid enormously in high energy costs alone as a result of the sanctions, including through developing a new energy dependence on the US which has resulted in concessions to Trump.

Sure that's not been enough but framing it as a pittance is just inusltung. Ukraine would have had a Russian government a long time ago without it.

someguy3@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 13d (2 replies)

A pittance relative to the economy that Russia would be going against in a real war with the West. C'mon. I'll say it again: They are deluded that they are going up against the West one way or another and they're not.

It's why they want to split EU in a bunch of fighting parties with propaganda campaigns, dumping immigrants at the border and the like before attacking.

someguy3@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 13d

Yup, and why they want to split nato.

Out of a cannon, or just the job kind?
