So Strange New Worlds is Community now?

Not complaining or praising, just wondering.

The gimmick episodes will continue until ratings improve, I guess?

It'd be fine if we didn't get only 10 episodes per season nowadays.

Ratings are irrelevant, they’re already cancelled. Not sure exactly when they learned that, but definitely by season 5 we’ll be seeing what happens when they have nothing to lose.

The Greatest Trek had a great line in last week's episode: "I don't mind all the genre episodes, I'd just like one of the genres to be Star Trek."

This episode better be at least on par with the musical episode, or I will be sad

I like muppets, but the musical will be hard to beat. I’ll be happy if it’s as good as the fairy tale episode.

If it manages that level I would consider it a minor miracle.

I think that I can almost enjoy how much people are getting bent out of shape by this on other social media. (I confess to scanning a few of the comments under that TrekMovie article.)

star trek is serious business

billmason@startrek.website · 8 pts · 8d (4 replies)

I hate to be pessimistic but I'm dreading the hell out of this episode.

ValueSubtracted@startrek.website · 6 pts · 8d (3 replies)

More than most episodes, I don't think there's much space between "home run" and "faceplant."

billmason@startrek.website · 5 pts · 8d (2 replies)

Exactly! And this season to date has me tilted heavily toward "faceplant".

ValueSubtracted@startrek.website · 2 pts · 8d (1 reply)

I'm definitely enjoying the season more than you, but there's a high degree of difficulty here nonetheless.

billmason@startrek.website · 7 pts · 8d

Yes, you clearly are then. If this episode is a dud I'll have slid overall into Discovery levels (sorry DIS fans) of "I watch to be in my favorite universe for a hour and to keep up on the lore, but I have no expectation of being wowed by what I see" mode for the rest of the run, quite likely.

Ah yes, I remember that Angel episode. That was a creative idea, 22 years ago.

This isn't even Star Trek's first trip to the well.

SiliconAvatar@startrek.website · 10 pts · 9d

Well, true. LDS played it well, though. Seeing how this is the second time that the SNW writers rip off old Joss Whedon episodes from the early aughts, I'm less forgiving.

Am i crazy or did SNW already do a puppet episode? I swear I've seen this already from one of the past seasons (or perhaps DSC?)

ValueSubtracted@startrek.website · 3 pts · 8d

None of the live-action series have done one, but the images have been floating around since...July 2025, I think.

My suscription is soon to end, I will not pay an entire month just to watch "31 minutos" or "The Muppets" in Star Trek.

I sound reasonable or sound like a hater?
