They're the ones determining what topics people should feel outraged about each day and it's never the right ones. They also set the tone for how each topic should be covered and what lens the sheep are supposed to view it through.
I cant wait to see some student claim that their "AI Agent" attended all their classes and did all their assignments for them, so they want their diploma from the college
So someone who voluntarily ran to be elected as a representative of the people in the party that is supposed to oppose Republicans isn't doing a god damned thing to stop blatant voter disenfranchisement, yet you claim he "isn't responsible for this?" What exactly is he responsible for if it isn't "opposing republicans" and isn't "representing the people?"
I'd say the right wing plant is the one trying to convince us that the Democratic leadership aiding the Republican agenda at every turn is somehow a good thing.
I've been here about 3 years in total and think that things seem to be getting stale lately. All the top discussions are about US politics and often my "front page" is showing posts that are days old.
Previously it only used to be like that on the weekends, but it could be a summertime thing with people spending less time behind a screen. I know reddit used to have "summer reddit" where the place got flooded with kids each June-September. This place doesn't have the draw for kids, which is fine with me, but I do wish the discussions were more varied.
The clue is the last line of their comment where they say they have a competitor offering 10Gbps which is why Comcast removed the data cap in their area. AFAIK it's still in place where I'm at because the only other option is CenturyLink 100mbps DSL.
They've changed it since covid so now if you use their modem/router combo, you get unlimited data for free. If you don't use their modem and router, you have to pay $30/mo to remove the data caps or keep yourself under 1.2TB for the month.
I mean I don't think this is a universally American belief, but my point is that they're pledging their oath to the Constitution and the office of the presidency, but also swearing to defend against all enemies foreign and domestic. Basically the office is what you're swearing an oath to, the person holding that office is only there temporarily and that person can make themselves an enemy of both the title they hold and the Constitution that rules over all (or is supposed to in a sane world).
Think of it like when you have a substitute teacher or temporary manager, you're not going to hold them in as high of a regard as someone who's permanently holding that title or role because they're just the current placeholder who will be gone before long much like Trump.
And even if people in the military hold similar beliefs, they're not necessarily protected if they act on it because as our current president shows on a daily basis, the law only has teeth if the people in power want it to, so while someone may think they're acting within the bounds of the law, there's nothing to stop a corrupt, criminal administration from throwing the book at them anyway.
