Great show, but what a nothingburger article. Six paragraphs of "people really liked it, it got good ratings", and a line saying "it was probably canceled because it was too expensive". Appreciate the definitive answer /s

Zaslaved!
It’s a shame we’ve returned to a system where canceled productions can’t shop their program to other outlets.

Telecommunications act of 1996...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_Act_of_1996
It undid the telecommunications act of 1934, which was FDR fixing this exact same problem.
But a bunch of corporations offered the Clinton's a bunch of campaign funding and 30 years later here we are.
When there's less than a handful of distributers, we're gonna see shit like this
If we had 27 different distributers, someone would make almost everything, there'd be a huge amount of (slightly lower quality) media.

I really liked season 1, but s2 felt to have no direction. I'm not even sure I finished it.

It's a shame. It was an interesting blend of sci-fi and esotericism. And I enjoyed it a lot more than the Dune series which is the network's token prestige sci-fi show now.

Is the Dune one any good at all?

It was meh and not very many episodes. Felt like half of a season of mostly setup material. Nice art direction though. A lot of potential, but season two will be its “make or break” moment. Waiting two years for another six episodes isn’t going to help its chances either.
Probably worth a watch once season two comes out, but so far not worth signing up for HBO just to watch.

Nope.

It's not bad. Not great. Really pales when compared to DV's work in the universe. Maybe not the most fair comparison, but man do the movies cast a long shadow.

This was such a good show. I wish it had gotten at least one more season.

Didn’t watch it. They just cancel anything like this.

Ended season 2 after a few episodes. S01 was great but with S02 it dropped off a cliff. Maybe a got a better afterwards but I wouldn’t know.

It got pretty bad at the end

I was pretty fucked off when they canceled it.

Really like it but was not surprised at all when they cancelled it. Too weird and expensive to sustain itself

Yes it was very different and hard to explain to others. I watched it but remember nothing about it

Season 1 is one of my favourite tv shows. I rewatch it regularly. Season 2 wasn't as good and I didn't watch it to the end.

I honestly couldn't really get into it. The militant atheism versus misunderstood religious underdogs premise didn't really do much for me. May have gotten more interesting after that, but based on the comments I see here, it seems like it didn't have a very good payoff in season 2.
