I think that if I were the type to give actual titles to my works, this one would be something like "The Glorification of The Last Zamboni." The mood at the funeral for the Lloyd Center was such that the audience was cheering for even just the zamboni driver, making his laps and giving high fives as he went by. Despite this event being ten days in the past now, it's still something I'm reflecting on. To a lot of people in Portland, Lloyd Center was a venerable, long-standing, good third place.

I wish it was alive and thriving, but it's been dead a while now. Best to scrap it and make something better. This picture does tell me that we(the community) need places that we can go for leisure and fun and not just shopping.

It was actually good for the first time ever lately. Since they dropped the rents by a lot it was just filled with cool local indie businesses.
I'm fine with a mall going away, but another generic livenation venue to gouge portlanders is not a win for the city.
