“It is all throughout the social sciences curriculum, and we’ll just signal it now and signpost where that is. But it is it is definitely there. I’ve had a look.”

It maybe "in there"; but climate change is not a social science, this is atmospheric physics, thermodynamics and chemistry.

Trying to reframe it as a social science is terrible.

I totally agree. I also think that the whole field since the 80s should be studied in social science as a masterclass in how corporate interests can influence public discourse and government policy to achieve outcomes that benefit business at the expense of people and the environment.

This along with the tobacco, asbestos, glyphosate and a few others; where corporate interests subverted scientific evidence to influence policy to ensure that their business interests are favored.

Lead, opioids, and pfas come to mind.

Indeed; opioids are not really much of an issue here in NZ. Our government is not as captured by the pharma industry.

Reminder to all the people who think of NZ as a sane capitalist democracy: Capital and financialization will come for us all. America didn't metastasize, capitalism did, and it's demands do not change.
