Do you get annoyed with those areas that seem like they should be one state but are split across multiple? Panhandles that seem like they would be better loved as something else, or states so small you question why they even exist? Then this map is for you. The seriously non-serious solution to the geographic woes of the contiguous 48 states
Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Maryland no longer exist. Its a good day to be a state larger than a postage stamp, and (as always) a terrible day to be Texas.
The new 55 United States introduces 13 fan favorites, including:

Texas should be split into five states around the following capitals:
You’d probably get two “blue” states out of this, two “red” and one tossup. Most of the current nonsense would be confined to dfw and east texas areas, and the rest of the new states would end up with proper representation.
It’s a toss up if Waco ends up as part of DFWstan or East Texas.

This is great, but I think instead of creating a thin gulf state from the panhandle of Florida, each of the states to the north should be extended.
Seems unnecessary to merge Delaware and Maryland but keep that skinny strip as a separate state, isolating both Alabama and Mississippi from the Gulf of Mexico.
The coastlines of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia should all be extended!

Its bigger than it looks, thanks to the spatial distortion of maps. That area by itself is far larger than every real tiny state. It would be the equivalent of like 10 Delawares at least
Using TrueSizeOf, it’s about the size of all of northern Florida in totality, which is the same size as the distance between New York and Cleveland, or San Fransisco and L.A.. Height-wise its about the distance between Chicago and Milwaukee, New York and Philly, or all of southern New England from the northern Mass border down to the coast
I feel like that region has more in common with itself than any of its surroundings, although having the borders of the northern states come down would also make sense in its own way

I found the size comparisons very interesting, thank you!
