RFK Jr lied in Senate confirmation hearings, newly revealed documents indicate

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/27/rfk-jr-senate-confirmation-hearing-testimony-vaccines

Newly obtained documents indicate that the US health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, lied during two congressional hearings last year, when he told lawmakers who held the key to his confirmation that a 2019 visit to Samoa had “nothing to do with vaccines”.

Letters obtained by the Guardian and the Associated Press contradict that testimony. In one he wrote to the Samoan prime minister before the trip, Kennedy explicitly said he wanted to study the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine in the Pacific island nation. In it, he used the words vaccine or vaccination eight times.

“I am writing this letter to you in the hope that we might be helpful to the people of your great nation,” he wrote, adding that he believed the deaths of two children there after an MMR vaccine could have resulted from manufacturing issues.

That's the one big problem in the US: no consequences for lying or breaking the law for the Epstein class.

If everybody lies, your statement is true, which also makes it false, which also makes it true... oh my what have I done?

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 20h

Relax, there is a cure. Put a mirror in the microwave and set the time for 222.

It would actually be weird if you weren't lying. Why are you being weird about this? Do you work for the Russians?

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 21h

We aren't supposed to call Trump Russian till AFTER the "election."

homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 16h

So did Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III. And it was a lie about russian collusion.

Spoiler alert: it was investigated and dropped because maybe he just forgot he was colluding.
