Legend has it that Pontius Pilate was born under and played under the 5,000-year-old Fortingall Yew in Scotland.

I wanna play on it too.

TIL that one of our neighbouring towns (Forchheim) also has a myth that Pontius Pilate has been born there.
Seems to have been a popular guy that so many claim him to be one of their own kind :-)

Oh, very cool, thanks for sharing!

Yea, Pilate is a historically popular figure considering he's the one believed to have ordered the crucifixion of Christ. I would have thought he'd be held in lower regard, but I feel like he's always portrayed as a wise leader or vaunted figure in stories. Maybe that depiction depends on the sect telling the story.

Maybe that depiction depends on the sect telling the story.

Just skimmed his Wikipedia article: In some flavors of Christianity he apparently is even considered a saint.
And generally he is not seen as a bad person, but a necessary, if tragic one, and a human witness for the things Christ had to go through.
Actually interesting.

Very, I can see how Pilate's role could be understood as a necessary component central to the formation and growth of a religion that depends on a martyr.

I can see how the Roman Catholic Church spent early propaganda efforts on shifting the blame away from Rome is what I can see.

I heard it was Johnny Cash?

Hey, with that long a history, someone named Johnny Cash must have played in that tree.
